New video of riddles!

Here is a video that I recorded reading 2 new riddles that aren’t in my books. The answers appear at the bottom of this page in white so just highlight the text to find out what they are! I look forward to sharing more riddles with you soon.

Riddle 1
I’m from the Andes mountains,
I make a lovely pet
I’m sociable and cuddly.
Do you know me yet?

The Incas found me tasty.
and some people still do.
But this is not a good idea,
–       don’t think of it, will you?

I’m a rodent and a herbivore.
I like vegetables and fruit.
Bananas, apples, curly kale
and sometimes a nice root!

I chew to keep my teeth to size,
they grow throughout my life.
If I don’t keep them down, you see,
they cut me like a knife!

Four hours a day I need for sleep,
–       not all night long like you.
I have to have a lot of naps
–       forty winks will do!

Now that you have listened,
just tell me, what’s my name.
If you don’t know don’t worry
I’ll tell you all the same!

 Riddle 2
We’re carnivores and eat up pests
like moths and flies and fleas.
We can live almost anywhere
–       we can go where we please!

We make a new web every day.
They really are quite strong,
they take about an hour to spin,
the silk is really long!

We use our silk for other things,
to climb and wrap up prey,
to swathe our eggs inside cocoons
till they grow up one day!

Our feet have hairs to help us walk
upon glass and on ceilings.
We frighten some of you so much
that you have phobic feelings!

Our legs – we do have eight of them
while insects have just six.
We can grow another leg
if we lose one in a fix!

Now that you have listened,
just tell me, what’s my name.
If you don’t know don’t worry
I’ll tell you all the same!

If you’re really stuck, the riddle answers are: (highlight the following text to show) guinea pigs and spiders.

After many years working as a clinical psychologist in the NHS, I became an author. My years as a mother and grandmother gave me plenty of practice telling children stories. I have become very interested in dinosaurs and animals, and I really enjoy rhymes and riddles!
